Motoring Anniversaries

Celebrating Motoring Anniversaries at the 2012 Silverstone Classic

After the great success at the 2011 Silverstone Classic in collecting around 1,000 E-type Jaguars together on the event infield, so making it the biggest display of privately owned models of this iconic British sports car anywhere in the world, and achieving the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Jaguar Cars in celebration of the E-type’s 50th anniversary, 767 E-types taking to the British Grand Circuit, plans are well advanced to celebrate a wide range of motoring and motor club anniversaries at the 2012 Silverstone Classic.

These will include:

  • 80th anniversary of the Morgan F-Series 3-wheeler
  • 60th anniversaries of the Mercedes-Benz Club, the BMW Car Club, Austin Healey and the Renault Owners Club
  • 50th anniversaries of the Cobra, MGB, Triumph Spitfire, Lotus Elan, Ford Cortina Mk1 and of the TVR Car Club
  • 45th anniversary of the Chevrolet Camaro
  • 40th anniversary of the Maserati Merak and the Marcos Owners Club
  • 25th anniversary of the Ferrari F40
  • 15th anniversary of the BMW Z3

Further details on all of these will follow shortly as plans develop.

Over 100 Classic Car Clubs are expected to display their vehicles over the 3 day event, with many now making the Silverstone Classic their main annual club event.

The sheer scale of these displays – some 7,000 cars in 2011 – is a landmark feature of the Silverstone Classic – a real celebration of motoring, auto design and memorabilia. Now’s your chance to closely admire those cars you might fondly remember, wish you owned, or plan to own and enjoy in the future!
