Radisich adds Kiwi polish

Former British and World Touring Car ace Paul Radisich is the latest star name to be confirmed to race at the Silverstone Classic this weekend.
The UK-based New Zealander has accepted an invitation to share two period racing saloon cars with countryman Roger Wills, a mighty Mercury Cyclone Comet and a Lotus Cortina, both from 1964. There is also a chance that Radisich will race a McLaren M1B sports-racing car with Wills over the weekend.
The Silverstone Classic will be the first experience of classic racing for Radisich, who has not raced for two years. “It will be a good chance to see if I still get a buzz from racing,” said Radisich, who was at the top of Touring Car racing throughout the 1990s.
The chance to race the 1960s saloons came from a chance conversation with Wills at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed. “Roger asked if I was interested in doing something at Silverstone and here I am,” said Radisich. “I’ll enjoy myself for sure.”
The chance to race the 5.5-litre McLaren gives Radisich his first opportunity to drive a car created by fellow New Zealander Bruce McLaren in 1965. “The McLaren has a lot of great feelings for me and to drive this car would be a great honour,” he said, admitting that he plans a steady approach to the powerful sports-racing car.
