Adding Yet More Sparkle To The Silverstone Classic

• New multi-year partnership with Hattingley Valley
• Race winners to celebrate with English sparkling wine

Whether it’s at Le Mans or Silverstone, motor sport is renowned for its fizzy podium celebrations – and those at the Silverstone Classic will be even more pertinent and special now as the result of a new multi-year partnership with Hattingley Valley.

Established in 2008, Hattingley Valley is one of the new generation of English sparkling wine producers. The vineyard is the brainchild of founder Simon Robinson and is situated in east Hampshire.

The 7.3-hectare south-facing site is on chalky bedrock similar to the terroir in the Champagne region of France and it now features more than 30,000 vines. Although, at present, that’s relatively small by global standards, Hattingley Valley is already among the 20 largest UK wine growers.

Prized magnums of Hattingley Valley will be presented to all the winning drivers stepping onto the podiums in both National and International paddocks during this month’s Silverstone Classic.

As an official partner of the Silverstone Classic, Hattingley Valley is also presenting partner of the BRDC Silverstone Classic Dinner where it will be supplying its award winning sparkling wine at the drinks reception. This special gathering is held on Friday evening and this year honours the remarkable racing career of John Surtees.

"We are delighted to be able to support the Silverstone Classic, which is the world's biggest Classic Motor Racing Festival and gives huge enjoyment to thousands of competitors and spectators alike,” said Robinson. “This is a very natural event for Hattingley Valley to sponsor and we look forward to many years of partnership."

The new relationship has been welcome by those at the Silverstone Classic, too. He said: “We’re a huge British event and it seems absolutely right and proper that our winners should be celebrating with English sparkling wine,” said event director Nick Wigley. “Whether the victors choose to pop the corks and spray the fizz for the photographers, or save it for the later, is totally their call. Either way we are thrilled to have Hattingley Valley on board.”
