Our auction partner, Silverstone Auctions, returned to the Silverstone Classic once again for their flagship sale of the year and for another unmissable weekend of auctions.

With a stunning selection of competition cars, classic cars and modern sports cars on offer, the auctions were one of the key destinations of this year’s event.

Whether you were looking for the chance to acquire your next race car, a rare, low mileage classic, or even an item of collectible automobilia, the auction halls located in the Wing was the place to be.

1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

Estimate (£): 850,000 – 1,000,000

The 300SL Gullwing is an iconic Mercedes-Benz coupe that was first produced in 1954. Only 1,400 cars were ever made and early cars such as this one, are particularly desirable. This car comes with an impressive history file and with the first UK owner being the late Peter Warr. Furthermore, what is really special about this Gullwing is it’s an early car and features the highly desirable full 'belly pans'

1963 Austin Mini Cooper S ‘Whizzo Williams’

Estimate (£): 60,000 – 80,000 

From the late Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams collection, this Mini Cooper 1071S was owned by Barrie from new and it was the first Cooper S to win an international rally. Later in life, Barrie used the car regularly as a road car and Silverstone Auctions are honoured to be auctioning this history making car.

1965 Studebaker Lark Daytona 500

Estimate (£): 65,000 – 80,000 (no reserve)

This car is the only racing Lark Daytona 500 in Europe and has therefore secured invitations to some of the most high-profile historic saloon races in the world, including both Goodwood Members Meeting support races as well as the main Goodwood Revival. Offered at No Reserve, this is a highly developed and extremely competitive car that is both beautifully prepared and expertly engineered. .

1970 Aston Martin DBS V8

Estimate (£): 145,000 – 165,000

This 1970 Aston Martin DBS V8 was the original factory press car used to launch the new V8 model and it is being offered for sale at the Silverstone Classic, directly from actor and comedian, Steve Coogan. The car itself is outstanding in Concours condition and coupled with its historical importance, this is an unrepeatable opportunity.

1985 Renault 5 Turbo 2 Evolution (Type 8221)

Estimate (£): 75,000 – 85,000 

This fabulously eccentric ‘8221’ R5 Turbo 2 represents the pinnacle of this unprecedented French concept, produced in very limited quantities, and is ready to captivate new passengers with its sheer performance, young-timer spirit, and its ability to impart such a powerful ‘thrill of driving’. One of the most affordable of all the 'Group B Maxi' homologation models and as is the way of these things, a very astute investment.

1988 Rouse Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth Group A

Estimate (£): 150,000 – 180,000 

This is one of the two legendary Kaliber Group A Sierra Cosworths built by Andy Rouse Engineering for the 1988 British Touring Car Championship. Chassis #ARE 0988 was built and used in the 1988 season and driven, predominately by Guy Edwards, to four podium finishes. The car is now offered from long-term ownership and has been fully engineered to a very high standard.

2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia GT3

Estimate (£): 100,000 – 130,000 

This, very special, 430 Scuderia GT3, was campaigned famously by Hector Lester and the late great, Allan Simonsen in British GT variously between 2008 - 2011. This car saw many wins, pole positions and fastest laps with Allan. Following a restoration in 2015 by Prosport, the car has been used on track days and is eligible for a variety of events today.

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Estimate (£): 160,000 – 180,000 

This 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in striking AMG Le Mans Red, is a UK supplied, right-hand drive and in virtually ‘as-new’ condition, having travelled just 690 miles! The gullwing doors, wide radiator grille with the large Mercedes-Benz star and the wing-like fin, are all reminiscent of the legendary 300 SL. This is a real opportunity to acquire a best-of-breed example!
