Driving a cure for dementia

Alzheimer’s Research UK is delighted to be the official charity partner for the Silverstone Classic for the next three years.

As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer's Research UK is funding vital research to better understand, diagnose, treat and reduce the risk of dementia. This year, money raised at the Silverstone Classic will go directly to Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia Fellowship scheme, which is administered by Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Fun Run

So, how can you help? Over the weekend of the Silverstone Classic, head over to the Village Green where you and your family can get involved, learn more about dementia and support life-changing dementia research. Highlights include:

Taking part in the Alzheimer's Research UK 5K Fun Run

Want to run on the track? If you’re coming along to the event on the Friday, make sure you sign-up to the 5K charity Fun Run in return for a suggested donation of £5. Remember to bring your running shoes! If you fancy doing some fundraising for your Run in advance of the event, you can download the Alzheimer's Research UK sponsorship form here.

Beat the expert in the Alzheimer's Research UK driving simulator

Put yourself in the driver’s seat in one of the racing simulators and see if you can beat the time being set by Tiff Needell over the weekend.

Share a memory of your first car and add it to the Alzheimer's Research UK memory wall over the weekend. Also, why not share your #MyFirstCar experience on social media to help spread the word about dementia research? We can’t wait to hear all your wonderful stories!

Guess how many oranges are in the car

Yes, you read that right! We’ll be celebrating Alzheimer’s Research UK’s #ShareTheOrange campaign by filling a Bentley Continental GT3 with orange balls. Simply make a donation to guess how many balls are in the car. There’ll be great prizes up for grabs, including a family ticket to next year’s festival, a Dyson vacuum and so much more! You’ll also find out what an orange has to do with dementia.

Whatever you plan on doing at the Classic this year, you’re guaranteed to have a great time, all the while driving groundbreaking dementia research.
