COVID-19

Is the 2020 Silverstone Classic cancelled?

It is with a heavy heart that we bring you news that the 2020 Silverstone Classic will not be going ahead.

Following the latest Government advice, we have reached the inevitable conclusion that we will need to cancel this year’s event. Given the current circumstances and the outlook on timescales, a postponed event - which was our original back-up plan - in a way that enables us to run the Classic in the manner that you know and love isn’t a feasible option. Our priority at all times is the safety and wellbeing of those attending our events as well as our own team and we know that you’ll understand why this step has been necessary. Our heartfelt thanks must go to all of you for your patience throughout this period of uncertainty.

As an independent events company passionate about what we do, we are proud to have developed the Silverstone Classic into an internationally renowned historic motorsport festival enjoyed across generations of car enthusiasts, families, racing drivers, and petrolheads. In times of difficulty, communities tend to come together and we’re incredibly grateful for your continued support. It means a lot. All of you are what makes the event the success that it is and we look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary with you next year instead.

2020 tickets

Anyone who had a ticket was given the option to roll their tickets over to the 2021 event or request a full refund before 5pm on Friday 31 July. All ticket holders were contacted with full details of their options. If you bought a ticket for the 2020 event and have not heard from us, please check your junk folder for an email from us dated 19.06.2020. If there’s nothing there, please contact us here.

We hope to see you for next summer’s event. In the meantime, and above all else, stay safe and healthy.

I’ve bought tickets for 2020 and would like to carry these forward to the 2021 event. Is that possible?

Absolutely, we’d love to see you at our 2021 event when we’ll be enjoying deferred celebrations for our 30th anniversary.

We hope that as many of you as possible will take the option to join us next year; your tickets will remain valid for the 2021 event and there’s no action you need to take. As a thank you for your continued support, we guarantee that the price you paid for your tickets will not be available more cheaply in 2021. You have the very best price on tickets.

Can I get a refund?

Yes you can. Full or partial refunds are possible on all priced tickets at their face value.

Our ticketing partner, See Tickets, will be pleased to take care of this for you but please submit your refund request by 5pm on Friday 31 July.

Simply make your refund request here – you’ll need your booking reference and either the postcode, phone number or last 4 digits of the payment card that you originally used in order to access your booking.

Once you’ve accessed your booking, if you would like a full refund, simply select the “I would like a refund” button.

If you would like a partial refund (e.g. if you are part of a group booking with a mix of some people who would like a refund and some who would like to roll their tickets forward OR you only want part of your booking – such as camping - refunded), you will need to scroll down towards the bottom of the page to the Contact Us section and select the “My Event has significantly changed” enquiry option. You should then fill in the contact form with full, detailed instructions for which aspects of your booking you would like refunded and which aspects should be retained. See Tickets will then make contact with you to organise the partial refund.

Please just be aware that the refund process excludes any charity donation that you may have made to Alzheimer’s Research UK with your booking. In addition, any refund protection payment made and the See Tickets transaction fee of £1.95 is also non-refundable.

All refunds should be made within 21 days of your refund request, subject to receipt of all the relevant information.

If you’d like to request a refund, please ensure you have submitted this request by no later than 5pm on Friday 31 July. After this date, no refunds will be possible.

When should I expect to receive the refunded monies into my account?

All refunds should be made within 21 days of your refund request, subject to receipt of all the relevant information.

If you’d like to request a refund, please ensure you have submitted this request by no later than 5pm on Friday 31 July. After this date, no refunds will be possible.

I've received my refund but this is showing as multiple transactions. Why is that?

In situations where your refund includes multiple elements e.g. tickets, a programme, an over-ear radio etc these are processed as individual refunds so appear as separate items when they're refunded to you (and not an amount for the whole transaction).

What are the 2021 event dates for the Classic?

Looking ahead to our provisional dates for 2021, the dates for your diary are: 30 July – 1 August. As usual, these will remain provisional until the dates for the British Grand Prix are ratified by the FIA (usually at the start of December) but we hope that this helps with planning for now..

My car club was due to be celebrating an anniversary this year. Will we be able to celebrate in 2021 instead?

We do plan to carry forward celebrations to the 2021 event wherever possible but please bear with us as we look at balancing both 2020 and 2021 celebrations when finalising next year’s anniversary plans. We’ll be back in touch with all car clubs on this as soon as we’re able.

I bought a 30th anniversary package - will this still be valid for next year’s event?

Yes. You’ll have the option to carry forward the 30th anniversary celebration packages as part of our deferred celebrations for our 30th anniversary.

I read somewhere that there is a crowdfunding page in support of the Silverstone Classic. What is that about and where can I find it?

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on us all and the events industry has been particularly hard hit.

As a small independent events company passionate about what we do, Goose Live Events has been hugely challenged financially by the need to cancel the Silverstone Classic in 2020. With 10 months’ work already done by the team in preparation for the Classic prior to its cancellation and costs incurred for an event that isn't now happening, coupled with the fact that we have no income attributable to the 2020 event, COVID-19 has set us back by at least 10 years.

We will survive it, but we’d really appreciate your help.

We understand that many of you may be in a similar situation, but for those of you who may be feeling particularly charitable or are in a position to help, we’d really appreciate it if you could consider supporting us.

What is the Online 30th Anniversary Party?

In 2020 we had planned to celebrate our own 30th anniversary but with plans on hold until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we held a very special Online 30th Anniversary Party with four special programmes now available on our YouTube channel bringing you 9 hours of incredible historic motorsport moments at the Classic. Thank you to those of you that contributed to our series of programmes.

General

When is the Silverstone Classic?

Looking ahead to our provisional dates for 2021, the dates for your diary are: 30 July – 1 August. As usual, these will remain provisional until the dates for the British Grand Prix are ratified by the FIA (usually at the start of December) but we hope that this helps with planning for now..

What are your opening hours?

The gates open at 07:30 each morning. They close at 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, and at 18:30 on Sunday.

Qualifying on Friday is likely to run from around 09:00 until 19:00,  with racing from 09:00 until 21:00 on Saturday, and from 09:00 until 18:00 on Sunday.

There will be live music on both Friday and Saturday evenings until 23:00. 

For those camping at Silverstone Woodlands, the campsite opens on Thursday from 09:00 and closes on Monday at 12:00. More details are here.

What's included in the ticket price?

We want you to get the very best value from the tickets you buy for the Classic, which is why we include so much in the ticket price! Your tickets not only include entry to the event, but also: Full access to the racing paddocks giving the chance for you to get close to the cars and talk to the drivers and race preparers; access to the open grandstands for great viewing of the track action. Big screens are also provided around the Circuit to ensure you don't miss a thing; the live music concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings; all funfair rides; and FREE parking.

Can I access the Paddock?

Absolutely - if you've never joined us at the Classic you'll be amazed at the access. You can get really close to the cars and talk to the drivers and race preparers. In the interests of safety, children aged 15 and under are not permitted in the pit garages and all visitors to the Classic should take extra care and keep a good watch in all directions as there will be race cars and support vehicles moving throughout the paddock. Please stay behind the viewing barriers at the assembly area.

Can I access the Pit lane?

For your safety, the pit lane is a restricted area and is only accessible to drivers and their teammates in possession of the correct accreditation. Children aged 15 and under are not permitted in the pit garages, pit lane or on the pit wall.

I have an event ticket for Saturday - can I use this to see the music concert on Friday?

Unfortunately not - you need a Friday event ticket to watch the music on Friday and a Saturday ticket to watch the music on Saturday.

Which grandstands are open?

Grandstand seating is free, but not necessarily all grandstands are open. An event map will be provided nearer to the event advising which grandstands are open for the weekend of the Classic.

Is the funfair free of charge?

Yes, the vintage funfair rides on the Village Green are all free of charge. 

Can I bring my own food and drink to the event?

Yes, we allow guests to bring a reasonable amount of their own food and drink, we just ask that no glass bottles are brought in. Please note that our prohibited items list includes, but is not limited to, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, chemicals of any kind, drones, glass bottles, barbeques, mopeds, scooters and any other unauthorised motorised transport, ladders, laser pens, weapons or any offensive materials in whatever format. Please note that your bags may be searched before entering and any prohibited items or excessive amounts of food and drink may be confiscated.

Can I bring my baby to the Silverstone Classic?

Yes you are able to bring your baby to the event. The noise of the race cars can be quite loud so we would recommend ear defenders. Children 5 and under have free entry to the event; please just indicate when booking your own tickets how many children aged 5 and under are likely to attend with you.

There are baby changing facilities throughout the site - the locations for which can be found on the event map, published closer to the event.

Site transport: Throughout the event, accessible buses (enabling wheelchair and pram access) will operate between the Village Green at the north end of the circuit infield and the International Paddock at the south end of the circuit infield, as well as on the perimeter road.

Site layout and conditions: The site is spread over 850 acres, some of which are fields. There are some hard-standing and tarmac areas together with stone paths and trackway, but the site can be difficult to negotiate. The weather can have a massive impact on how easy it is for people to move around the site, please take this into consideration when deciding on what equipment to bring with you.

Can I use a bicycle inside the circuit to get around?

Yes you can, you are free to use an un-motorised bicycle within the circuit.

Is there anything I can't bring to the event?

Yes. Prohibited items include but are not limited to alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, chemicals of any kind, drones, glass bottles, barbeques, mopeds, scooters and any other unauthorised motorised transport, ladders, laser pens, weapons or any offensive materials in whatever format. Please note that your bags may be searched before entering and any prohibited items may be confiscated.

NO PETS are permitted onsite at the Silverstone Classic either, although fully trained and registered “assistance” dogs are welcome. Please contact the circuit on +44 (0) 8704 588 251 so that arrangements can be made prior to your arrival. It is however not recommended that animals be subjected to loud noises from some of our Motorsport activities. ‘Assistance’ dogs are not allowed in the paddock, garages or the pit lane. Please do not leave dogs locked in cars in car parking areas.

Ticket- related

How can I buy tickets?

Tickets for 2021 are not currently available to purchase. We will announce when these become available to purchase on the website, via our newsletters and on social media. 

When are tickets on sale until?

Tickets to the event are available in advance until midnight the Thursday before our festival weekend.

Bookings for Car Club Packages are only available until midnight on the 31st May – this is due to the complex logistics of accommodating over 100 car clubs over the weekend of the event.

How do I know if my booking was successful?

Once you have completed the booking form and submitted your order, you will get an email confirmation from our ticket agency - SEE Tickets. Please ensure that you enter your email address correctly when booking.

Your email confirmation will show details of your order including the number of tickets and booking reference.

Many email account providers offer a filter service to protect you from unwanted junk mail or 'spam'. It is possible that your email confirmation from us has been mistakenly filtered by this service; so if you do not receive email confirmation from us within 48 hours, please check your Junk Mail and/or Deleted Files folders first. If you still cannot find your confirmation email, you can request for it to be resent - by logging into the SEE Customer Services area here.

I’m having trouble purchasing tickets online, who can help me?

If for any reason you are having problems trying to purchase tickets online, please call +44 (0) 871 231 0849 to speak to a ticket agent.

Calls cost 13p per minute plus standard network charges.

I haven't received my confirmation email, what should I do?

If you haven't received your confirmation email, please allow up to 6 hours for it to reach you at busy periods and also check it hasn't gone into your junk mail folder.

If you still have trouble getting your confirmation email, you can check your order has gone through by logging into the SEE Customer Services area here and use the option on the next page to resend your confirmation email.

I have not received my tickets. When will my tickets be sent?

All tickets are sent electronically to the email address you provide after you have completed your order. Please bring these tickets with you to the event as they will be scanned upon entry.

If you can't find your ticket and have booked online, log into the SEE Customer Services area here - enter the email address used to purchase tickets and your ticket will be resent.

How do I order and pay for additional items to a booking I have already paid for?

You have the option to book additional items e.g. camping, programmes, over ear radios etc. after you've placed your ticket order (subject to availability). You just need to visit our website and where is says 'Already ordered tickets?' enter your booking reference number (on your original confirmation email) and email address (that was registered with the booking). If you're a member of a car club and have bought a Car Club Display Package, you will additionally need to enter your club's exclusive booking code (as well as your booking reference number).  

How do I get a reference number for my tickets?

You get one automatically as part of the booking process. If you buy online we'll send you a confirmation email that will include a booking reference number. If you buy over the phone we'll give you your booking reference at the end of placing your order.

You'll need your booking reference number if you want to order additional items after you have purchased your tickets online, so keep it safe.

All tickets are sent electronically with the exception of the Car Club Display Vehicle Passes and Hospitality tickets which will be dispatched a couple of weeks prior to the event.

Can I cancel my order if I change my mind?

If you purchased Ticket Plan Protection when you bought the tickets, you may be eligible for a refund. The terms and conditions that relate to Ticket Plan Protection are detailed here.

In addition, our ticket partner, SEE Tickets, offers an ethical and convenient way to re-sell tickets, enabling you to sell and buy spare tickets, safely and securely, at the price you paid or less, via the Fan-to-Fan Marketplace. More information is here.

So, if you have an unwanted ticket and it is sold successfully through the Fan-to-Fan Marketplace, SEE Tickets will send you payment five days after the event takes place. Payment will only be made if the ticket is successfully sold. If it is not,  the only time we would offer a ticket refund is if the event is cancelled.

What's the transaction fee for?

The transaction fee covers the administrative costs of processing your order along with implementing infrastructure to facilitate ticket scanning onsite. The transaction fee applies per order not per ticket i.e. if you purchase six tickets, you only pay one transaction fee. 

Is your website secure?

Yes it is. For security when booking, your details are transmitted using industry standard 256 bit SSL (secure socket layer) encryption. You'll need to be using a browser compatible with SSL (most modern ones are).

I've lost my booking reference number - what can I do?

If you have booked online and lost your reference number, log into the SEE Customer Services area here - enter the email address used to purchase tickets and your booking confirmation will be resent.

If my address changes, how do I tell you about this?

You can change address details online by logging into the SEE Customer Services area here. Click on 'I want to change my delivery address' in the section 'Your Details'.

I am disabled can my personal assistant accompany me to the event?

As part of our commitment to make the Silverstone Classic accessible to all, we operate a Personal Assistant 2-4-1 ticket scheme.

All disabled visitors attending the Silverstone Classic on a paid for adult ticket are entitled to bring one assistant free of charge (this applies to general admission tickets and camping only. This offer does NOT apply to hospitality tickets). Please note, if the disabled person is a child you will need to buy an adult ticket and claim a free child ticket.

You will need to complete the online Personal Assistant 2-4-1 ticket application form (which includes details on further eligibility criteria) once we are on sale for next year's event.

Is there parking available at the Silverstone Circuit?

Yes - all car parking is free in the public car parks. Just follow the signposting on your approach to the circuit. For information regarding disabled parking please click here.

How do I redeem my Buy a Gift voucher?

Email the following information to [email protected]:

- Your Buy a Gift voucher reference number

- The email address you would like your electronic tickets sent to

- Postal address of person redeeming the voucher

- A contact phone number in case of any issues

 

Can I leave and then re-enter the event?

Yes you can, but you can only re-enter if you're able to present your e-ticket again and if you have a stamp. If you leave the event but plan on returning, make sure to get a stamp on the way out. 

Camping-related

Is there camping close-by?

Absolutely, make a weekend of it - one day is never enough! Silverstone Woodlands campsite has fantastic facilities and is located a short walk (or tractor shuttle) from entry Gate 15 to the circuit. For more information and for details on other accommodation options please click here. 

Is the camping at Silverstone Woodlands campsite booked per person or per pitch?

Camping is booked per person not per pitch. There is no strict pitch size (unless you have booked an electrical hookup) and the spaces are given on a first come basis. If you do require an electrical hook-up, simply add this as an extra to your order. (there is an additional fee). If buying an electric hook-up, pitch sizes do need to be observed and you can either buy a standard  electric hook-up (7x8m pitch size) or large (6x12m pitch size).

How do I book camping at Silverstone Woodlands campsite?

You can buy camping tickets at the same time as purchasing your event tickets via our website - it is one easy process for you. Just select the relevant drop down menu and how many camping tickets you would like and pay for it at the end along with anything else you have ordered.

If you have already booked and paid for your tickets and you only want to buy camping tickets (but you want to link it to your booking), you do have the option to add them at a later date. You'll just need your booking reference number (on your original confirmation email), and follow the links that we'll update here once this function has been added, closer to the event.

Can I park my car next to my tent at Silverstone Woodlands campsite?

Generally, yes. Silverstone Woodlands aim to have cars parked next to pitches. In the event of bad weather, or for different reasons, you may have to park your car away from your pitch. If this is the case, we will try and make the distance between your car and your pitch as close as possible (within reason). .

Can I park my car next to my motorhome in my electrical hookup pitch?

This depends on the size of your electrical hookup pitch, motorhome and car. If your car and motorhome fits within the pitch size then we are more than happy for you to park your car there. If they do not fit within the pitch size, then we advise you find a parking spot nearby. There is no designated parking for additional vehicles, but as long as your vehicle is not on anyone else's pitch or blocking a roadway then you are fine to park it.

Can I bring my dog to Silverstone Woodlands campsite?

Unfortunately NO PETS are permitted onsite at the Silverstone Classic or on Silverstone Woodlands campsite, although fully trained and registered “assistance” dogs are welcome. Please contact the circuit on +44 (0) 8704 588 251 so that arrangements can be made prior to your arrival. The campsite is located very close to the circuit and it is not recommended that animals be subjected to loud noises from motorsport activities. ‘Assistance’ dogs are not allowed in the paddock, garages or the pit lane.

Is the camping ticket cost included in the electrical hookup cost?

Unfortunately not - the camping ticket is a separate per person cost. If you would like an electrical hookup this costs an additional amount per electrical hookup pitch. The prices for 2020 are:

- A standard electrical hookup pitch (7mx8m) = £70

- A disabled area electrical hookup pitch (7mx8m) = £70

- A large electrical hookup pitch (6mx12m) = £90

Can I bring my generator to the Silverstone Woodlands campsite?

Unfortunately you cannot bring or use your own generator at the campsite. A limited number of electrical hookups are available to purchase at an additional cost.

 

Media-related

Where do I get media accreditation?

I am a photographer, can I have a car pass to take my equipment anywhere in the circuit?

Unfortunately not. A shuttle service for media will operate from media sign-on to the media centre in the Silverstone 'Wing' and you can access the free buses around the site.

Live music line-up on Friday and Saturday evenings included  with all tickets
