The Boomtown Rats join the Classic festival line-up

We've already announced The Stranglers, Reef and Live/Wire for the Saturday music line-up and now we can reveal that The Boomtown Rats will headline Friday night at this year’s Silverstone Classic too!

The Boomtown Rats had stand-out number one hits in the late seventies with ‘Rat Trap’ and ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ but disbanded in the mid-eighties while Bob Geldof concentrated on his charity work and a solo career. They reformed in 2013 when, in Geldof’s own words, he felt it was the right time to ‘re-Rat, go back to Boomtown and start doing all those great songs once again’.

Friday evening will also see the world’s premier Elton John (Ultimate Elton) and Thin Lizzy (Limehouse Lizzy) tribute acts performing ahead of The Boomtown Rats, so you’re in for a memorable weekend at the Home of British Motor Racing. The live music across the concerts on both Friday and Saturday is totally free with your weekend ticket, and with so much nostalgic racing on the full grand prix circuit, fantastic family entertainment on the in-field and now a full bill of outstanding live music line-ups, one day won’t be enough.

Early bird tickets are available until the end of March and if you’re a family, don’t forget we have an all-new Family Ticket this year which includes camping for two adults and two children across the whole weekend and gives a discount of more than 20 per cent on advance tickets when bought individually. Full information on all tickets is detailed here.
