Countdown to the Silverstone Classic with

Silverstone Classic

Drive Live

Ever thought that whilst you're at the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival that you’d like to take a car for a test drive? Well, the 2018 event is providing you with a fantastic opportunity to take a 30 minute test drive on the open roads around the circuit in the beautiful Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire countryside, for free.

Lexus will have several models from their range, all with Self-Charging Hybrid technology, available for you to test drive at this year's event.

Before you go out, Lexus will give you a simple briefing on the controls of the car, safety, and the test drive route which will be programmed into the car’s Sat Nav to make things as simple as possible for you. There’s even a prize for the most economical MPG achieved along the route.

Drive Live will be located in the heart of the Shopping Village area by the Town Square. Simply visit the Lexus showroom to book a test drive (slots will be available between 11:00 and 18:00) – all you will need to bring is yourself, your full driving licence, and you’ll need to be aged 25 or older, too. Passengers are welcome.

And there’s even something for the young drivers, too!

You can’t get your driving licence in the UK until you are 17 but at the Silverstone Classic, thanks to Young Driver, if you are aged 10 or over you've got the chance to get behind the wheel of a car!

Young drivers of 10 years old and above and 1.42m or taller are invited to try driving for themselves at this year's event. 10 minute taster sessions will need to be booked and paid for with Young Driver at their big red bus located in the Drive Live area in Blue Zone 6, and a time slot for the session (between 09:00 and 18:00) will then be allocated to save queuing. We anticipate high demand so book early to avoid disappointment. A 10 minute taster session costs just £5.

Young drivers will be taught to drive in a brand new dual controlled Vauxhall Corsa with one of the Young Driver team. Young Driver is also fully inclusive with disabilities catered for via the Young Driver automatic car too. There are over 450 highly qualified ADIs across the UK in the Young Driver centres, all of whom have been DBS checked and individually trained in how to adapt the DVSA curriculum to be appropriate for younger children.

During their time in the car, young drivers will learn a whole host of skills including starting, driving, braking, corner control, changing gear, stopping and even reversing.
